These occur naturally on everyones skin, however, people with dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis seem to have more Malassezia than usual. Seborrhoeic dermatitis can be thought of as a more severe kind of dandruff. Undesirable effects are unlikely, but, as with other shampoos, a burning sensation, itching or skin redness/irritation may occur on exposed areas. Oily and dry hair have been reported rarely. * Dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis can cause some hair loss which has been reported with Nizoral Dandruff Shampoo. Occasionally hair discoloration has been reported. This mainly occurs in patients with grey hair or hair that has been treated frequently, such as the use of colours, bleaching or perms. * Very rarely, eczema and hair loss can occur. * If your Nizoral Dandruff Shampoo affects you in any other way, then please stop using it and tell your pharmacist or doctor. To keep your scalp clear, you should use your Nizoral Dandruff Shampoo once every 1-2 weeks. * Please do not use your Nizoral Dandruff Shampoo more often than directed. If your hair is very thick, you can wash with your usual shampoo and then use Nizoral Dandruff Shampoo. * Accidental swallowing is normally har mless but as with all externally used products, you should tell your doctor straight away. * Once your dandruff or seborrhoeic dermatitis has cleared, you can control it and stop it coming back by using your Nizoral Dandruff Shampoo regularly once every one or two weeks.
